My last blog entry was over three years ago. Time fly’s when you have a little one in your life, your wife becomes ill, a member of what you think is family physically attacks you and beats you senseless. You may ask “Why me God?” Am I not doing your will or is the truth I am now doing my will and you are just trying to get me to “wake up”? If we as men and women of Christ lack focus or direction why do we make it so difficult to seek his Will in our lives? We know we can send many “knee-mails” but we realize that they are being rejected or maybe not received? <user@>: connect to Connection timed out. We look at the rejection line and determine we are sending these “knee-mails” to ourselves and not to God!!

download As a child one image of Christ still burns in my mind.Christ kneeling in the garden. This image says  many things to many people whom have seen it. It is clear in this picture that Christ is seeking His  Father, God of the Universe, maker of all things great and good. This God, Jesus, who came to  earth  to live among men as a man, sent to teach us the “Way the Truth and the Life”, even He  knew He must  seek God as a man. Sometime I think that I have lost that very simple thought.  Seek God not man.  Walk with Him and not away from Him. Ask Him to so you His will for your life  and never ask Him to  make you will His.Always Check your “Knee-Mails” to ensure they have  been received and not returned ‘Undelivered”.  God will send what you need if you ask Him in the manner He deserves. Always show Him you are His servant. You are ready, if  He wants, to send you out of the “Boat” of doubt and fear. What will it take? How long do we have? Can you commit to share His Love? If the opportunity comes will you go?

I have lived most of my life in fear of rejection. I do not like to hear people talking down other people to make their point clear. Judgement will come but not from man.  “God from Heaven come down” We need you to return as our world continues to darken. You are the only true “Light” Please forgive the mess we have created in your creation.

Is God On Facebook? Do You Tweet Jesus ?

•2011/10/18 • Leave a Comment

Have you "Liked" God today?

It’s been well over one year since I disconnected myself from Facebook and I never really understood Tweeter. Didn’t like them then and still don’t today. Oh sure it works for some people I guess I just value my time more than to spend it posting trends, updated status and whatever. Which made me think….Heck I have a blog out there somewhere that has not had an input in some time. Could it still be active? And does anybody really care?

So I beg to ask the question. Is God On Facebook? Do people follow Jesus on Tweeter? I was always amazed at how much time people spent texting and now with smart phones, iPad and other devices that precious remaining time is greatly reduced. When you ask people why they don’t read the Bible more, spend time in prayer or simply seeking God’s face the answer is usually ” Well there’s just not enough time!!” So here’s my dilemma…………..…………………………………………..God has blessed my life with a three-year old, beautiful little girl named Mia Snow. Should I spend more time teaching her how to use technology to gain the strongest foothold in society possible? Should we provide her with Ipad’s and smart phones always upgrading to the latest version. Should she spend countless hours in front of the computer screen downloading mp3’s from the Apple Store or should she part of the Android crowd? All very hard decisions for an “Old School” type guy. I have to admit I still refuse to carry a cell phone inside the church and if for some reason I forget I make sure it’s turned off. Wouldn’t want to disturb God in His House of Worship. Could it be possible if I really took the time to make absolutely sure this little girl knows the Lord, understands that God’s word, The Holy Bible is the roadmap for her life, that she will never be alone for God is always there. that every provision she requires will be supplied by Him who Loves Her. Made Her, and protects her always, if I as her Pawpaw, make sure she knows these things and believes them because of faith and not by sight then would it not make sense that God would instill in her the techno-knowledge and talents she will need in the future?

Please understand I am not anti-Facebook or Tweeter. There just not my cup of tea. I respect anyone who is a good manager of time. When someone can have a true and meaningful relationship with God, spend quality time in Prayer and reading  His word, work, take care and spend time with family ones spouse, sleep, eat, have a little fun and still have time left to Facebook, Blog and Tweet then I would save you have found the secret to real-time management.

In closing may I suggest the following:

  1. Like a friend in person today.
  2. Tweet someone to a meal
  3. Post a kind word of encouragement in the form of a greeting card
  4. And Blog yourself over to visit a person who needs the human touch

These words from Laura Story say a great deal. What and where do Blessings come from?

We pray for blessings, we pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering

All the while You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

‘Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near?

What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise?

Trials or Blessings?  Giving Time or having none.

So You Voted? Now What?

It was 1974 and the first year of my life were I was able to vote. I remember the pride I felt as I entered the voting booth to cast my first vote. 1974 was a very strange year. Richard Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974 as President after the Watergate incident and was later pardoned by Gerald Ford and 1974 had seen the United States slump into a deep recession while still fighting high inflation. Sound familiar?

Coming from a family of politically strong Democrats, educators and “blue-collar” types there was never a question in my mind that the Democratic party was the one party that best represented my beliefs and political interests. Afterall everyone I knew was a Democrat.

It’s now 2010 and I just voted in the midterm elections. I have never missed a single voting opportunity in thirty-six years. So what has changed? Back then paper ballots and now “Touch Screen” voting machines. Then a democrat and now not a true republican but rather I feel like a true independent. Then, no thought required to select a democrat and now I want to know all I can about the candidate. His or her values, strengths and weakness. Yes weakness!!

This election I voted republican because I felt the opposition had little or no answers to the issues of this day. So we have voted!! Now what?

Anyone who reads this blog knows very well that the USA is going to “Hell in a Handbasket” faster than a “Bullet Train”. The moral decay in this country is so great it needs its own twenty-four hour news channel to present its endless number of events, actions and decline. So how do we turn this ship around. Well we can’t. I believe that no one man or women, political party, reversal or passage of a law, supreme court or any court for that matter can reverse the moral decay of this county. We only have one hope and one definite power that can reverse this terrible dilemma we currently face. That hope and power is only found in one. We must remember who made this country great. God did. Yes He used many people over the past decades to display His will for this country but in the end it was always God. We also need to read and try our best to understand His word. What is He saying and how does it fit in this age?

Have we sinned? Have we forgotten who can forgive us?

Numbers 21:7

7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

Prayer. Humbling ourselves before God. Returning to our knees and praising our Lord and Savior. Placing God first in all things. Being humble? Didn’t I hear that when I was in the Boy Scouts? Or was it in Sunday School? Didn’t mom always say ” A humble man is a man who seeks God”? Or is my older mind playing “tricks” on me?

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

So you voted? Now what?

Why me Lord?

Living Waters

Just when everything seems to be going in a positive direction something happens in your life and if you are like me you may look up and ask “Why me Lord?” Or maybe the question be “Why not me Lord?” I can only speak for myself but when I allow my life to go on “Cruse Control” God, in His infinite wisdom and will, sends or allows a trial or test of my faithfulness in His ability to provide all I could possibly need, or He may simply be reminding me of some simple truths.
Where have you been?
Why did you stop talking to me?
Have you figured it out and no longer need me?
Do you no longer desire to seek my face?
It’s at that moment I know I need to return to His word and Pray.
What does it mean to Him and what should it mean to me.
Matthew 21: 22
22 “If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
I once had a pastor that said “Be careful what you pray for!” As I grow older I think back on some of the prayers which I have lifted up to God. He has answered some, some He has never responded and many He has answered with a definite “No Way”. With each response He has also issued a challenge to me concerning His answer. The measuring stick or ruler of this challenge?
Is it your will or My will? Do you request this for My Glory? Or do you have self-centered motives?
Romans 12:12
12 ” Be  joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
I have spoken about the friends in my past. Most if all of them would agree that I have a very addictive personality. I have been told I could make a statue laugh. I can say most of my life has been filled with more happiness than sorrow. It sometimes is very easy to forget God, become self-centered and end up unhappy, stressed and with hidden afflictions which suddenly rise to the forefront of your life. What do you do at this point?
Jeremiah 2:13
13 “My people have committed two sins:
       They have forsaken me,
       the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
Realize we are thirsty once again and return to the “Living Water”.
John 4:11
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?
John 7:38
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
In conclusion, I know each day I need to ask God to remove the dam that holds back this Living Water so it can flow from me. I know I need to praise Him in prayer, my life and my walk  without asking for anything. In other words most, if not all, of my prayers should be praise to Him and for others in need and few, if any, should be prayers asking for things I think I need.
If you are thirsty, find the “Living Water” in Jesus Christ. Ask and he will fill you each and everyday of your life. Choose to be happy. Choose to have eternal life. Choose Jesus.

Dying Alone

•2010/08/16 • Leave a Comment

As a young boy as I looked out into the night sky I would wonder what it would feel like to die alone on some distant planet. Being the only “soul” present as each day and night passes. Wondering what is out there beyond what my eye can see.

For some that feeling is all too familiar right here on planet Earth. As we spend our time each day for some we drift further and further away from friendships, family and happiness. Most of the time we arrive at this point in life and don’t even recognize we are there.

Sure we can look at how many friends we have on Face Book, but will they be there when we truly need them or the day we pass on. You’ve heard the saying ” To have a friend you must first be a friend”. Have you ever tried and still have this feeling in your gut that you are not welcomed? What is it that must be done to receive the favor of someone as a friend? Or could it be that in this day and age we are so busy with all that life has thrown at us we just do not have any time left for friends?

I can only speak for myself.  Many years ago I had numerous friends. People that I saw day in a day out. Friends that would come over and friends who would call just to see how you were doing. Field parties, concerts, the drive in movies and the list of activities goes on and on.

And then something happened. A child is born, divorce and relocation. A new job with little time to “Go Back” home. The years just drifted by and what have I missed? Friends

Will I die alone, forgotten and unhappy? Absolutely not!!! Why? Because I have only one friend who will never leave me, forsake me or forget me. That friend’s name is Jesus.

My challenge now? To renew that friendship daily so I never forget who is truly my friend.

By the way I do have one other very special friend. Her name is Debbie, my wife.

She too has a very close friend in Jesus.

Need a special friend? Cry out to Jesus. Give him your loneliness and pain. He wants to be your friend.

I still like to look up at the stars on a clear night but I no longer wonder what it would be like to die alone on some distant planet.

Generation Next ?

What will be her generation?

The latest news stories are about what the name of the next generation will be. Myself it’s the Baby Boom Generation. My son who is 24 is a Millennials or Generation Y. I’m really not sure about that one.

So what determines the name of a generation? Social issues of the time? The culture of the members? What’s in or out?

Some believe the current generation 2002 thru 2010 will be called the I generation. iPhone, iPad, iPod and so on.

God help us if this is the case!!

Below are some of the current names based on year of birth.

2000/2001-Present – New Silent Generation or Generation Z
1980-2000 – Millennials or Generation Y
1965-1979 – Generation X
1946-1964 – Baby Boom
1925-1945 – Silent Generation
1900-1924 – G.I. Generation

Todays youth are more tech savvy than most of the generations listed above. The can’t live without the gagets and electronics. Most have never written a letter using pen and paper. I doubt many know how to write a check or balance a checkbook.

So how will the fair if something happens? Many lack the skill of face to face communications or problem solving. Oh yeah they can blast their way through most video on online games but can they find food and shelter without a “Joy Stick” in their hands? Do they have a clue who to go to for HELP?

One bright light coming from the youth of today is the fact they seem to be more involved in politics. And so the should with great fever. Why is this? Take a look at the national debt based on each of these generations.

2000/2001-Present – New Silent Generation or Generation Z  See Below
1980-2000 – Millennials or Generation Y 2000  $$1,789 Billion(s)
1965-1979 – Generation X   1979     $ 826,519,000,000.00
1946-1964 – Baby Boom       1956     $272,750,813,649.32
1925-1945 – Silent Generation 1925    $20,439,234,256
1900-1924 – G.I. Generation

$9.8 trillion deficit between 2011 and 2020. The total debt has increased over $500 billion each year since FY 2003, with increases of $1 trillion in FY2008 and $1.9 trillion in FY2009.

Please understand we have a lot of very intelligent youth who are passionate about stopping this madness. The question is ” Do they have enough time or is it too late?”

So what about my grand-daughter Mia Snow born in 2008? My prayer is that she will not be part of the ” Doomed” generation. How will she and her possible children pay for the greed of past generations?

Please think long and hard before the next election. Vote for sanity, Vote for our children and Grandchildren. Help the next generations survive.

Time Management: Where do we spend our time?

•2010/06/01 • 2 Comments

Sunset of Time

I find as the years add up time seems faster each year. I think it was my brother, Father John, who said ” When you are 5 a year is 1/5 of your life , but when you are 50 a year is now 1/50 of your life.” or a year goes by 10 times faster. So how do we with our busy schedules, Facebook, Twitter and all the other time-consuming activities manage our time? Do we at some point, or age, have to choose which of these bring  joy and value and which only steal  time .

This past Memorial Day weekend we chose to take our granddaughter, Mia, camping. I could have stayed at home mowed the grass, weed the garden or do a hundred other things that need to be completed. For the first time I saw my little Mia climbing and sliding down the chute at the little jungle gym near our campsite without fear or trepidation.

See could see her Nana and knew she could stay up with the bigger children. She got to swim in a real pool, see people fishing, playing horseshoes and just having fun.  Three days, well spent, that I do not regret using. So what did I learn this weekend? That when I take the focus from myself, and my selfish activities, and use them for the benefit of others the time used goes by slowly and peacefully. Oh I would be amiss if I didn’t say we had our moments of  disciplinary  interaction. She is only 19 months old.

As people of faith, we know only God knows the number of days, we will be on this planet so time management becomes even more important as we age. My basic method of time management is this:

  • Think and “Do” for others before yourself
  • If you see a need try to fill it
  • Give thanks always, each day for what you have been given
  • Just say “Thank you” when others “Do” for you
  • And finally learn how to use the word “NO”

Can we add time to our lives? I believe we can by eliminating the time we waste!!

“I am definitely going to take a course on time management… just as soon as I can work it into my schedule.”
Louis E. Boone
